“
Female Avatar Used by a Virgo Man” As a Virgo man, I must admit that I have always been curious about the world of females. However, my reserved nature usually prevents me from exploring this world as openly as I would like. That's why, for the past couple of weeks, I have been using a female avatar as my profile picture on various social media platforms. I was intrigued to see how differently people would react to me as a female, compared to when I present myself as a male. And boy, was I in for a surprise! Firstly, I noticed a significant increase in the number of friend requests and messages I received. As a male, I am usually quite selective about whom I interact with online. But as a female, I was inundated with requests. It amazed me how many people (mostly men, I must say) were eager to be friends with a complete stranger, just because of a pretty profile picture! However, as much as I enjoyed the attention, it also made me realize the harsh reality of the online world. Countless unsolicited messages flooded my inbox – everything from flattery to harassment. It made me empathize with the struggles many women face on a daily basis, both online and in real life. Another interesting observation was how my opinions and comments were received differently. As a male, people often perceive me as assertive and confident. But as a female, I was often dismissed or belittled, even when I said the exact same things. It was disheartening to realize that people judge me based on my gender rather than my thoughts. Overall, my experiment using a female avatar was fascinating, eye-opening, and at times, frustrating. It made me realize how much gender biases still exist in our society, both online and offline. It also made me appreciate the many privileges I have as a male. In the end, I switched back to my male avatar. But the experience left a lasting impact on me. I now have a deeper understanding and respect for the struggles of women, and will continue to be aware of my own biases and privileges.
